The Louvre

Thank goodness for Rick Steves and his pocket guides. We went to the Louvre and the line was insane. We went to the mall under the museum, and bought our museum passes. , just as he suggested. Then, we went straight to the front of the line upstairs and saved about two hours waiting.

The museum is very large and overwhelming. We followed our guide book to make sure we didn't miss any of the big pieces, like the Venus de Milo. It was beautiful. The Mona Lisa is in a huge room on a huge wall all by itself...surrounded by about a million people taking pictures. Don't worry, I pushed my way to the front for a picture. By the way the painting itself is very small :)

The rest of the museum was really cool, but after a few hours I was ready to go back to our hotel to rest our feet! We took to subway back. Oh, also, our hotel is right near a metro (subway) stop. Wohoo!

For dinner we ate at a cafe. You would be interested to know that French cafe food seems very much like American food. Lots of roast chicken, steak, sandwiches and salads. Also, a lot of fries ;) They are called French fries after all.
